Prof.(Dr.) S D Sharma is a renowned Professor and Scholar of Human Rights, Constitution and Jurisprudence. He was born on 31st December 1957 in Champawat district of Uttarakhand. Professor Sharma began his career as Assistant Professor in Faculty of Law, Kumaun University, SSJ Campus, Almora. Professor Sharma has held various administrative positions in number of Government Institutions like University Grant Commission, Union Public Service Commission, Public Service Commission of various States, Semi Governmental Institutions like Company Secretary, State and Central Universities. Professor Sharma has also served as member, Expert Committee in Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India since 2002 to 2015 (on the basis of two-years tenure each time). Professor Sharma has successfully completed major and minor projects funded by University Grant Commission, New Delhi.

Professor Sharma has authored number of books on Human Rights, Jurisprudence, Creative Activities and the Law, Criminal Procedure Code, Right to information & Human Rights and terrorism ( Parameters of North-East ). He has written scores of Articles and Research papers which are published in high impact Legal Journals. An off decorated academician, he has been conferred with various awards, citations and chief among them are 'Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon Award' 2017 by the President of India for his extra-ordinary contribution in the area of Legal research, Bharat Gaurav award and Vivekanand Puraskar.
